When you take your continuing education courses from the MCS, the monies come back to the Society to benefit you and your profession.

The MCS uses your dues money to do things for your profession that no other organization or entity can do, such as being the face of chiropractic to the legislature, the administration, and insurance companies. The MCS continues to advocate for Recognition, Respect, Advocacy, and Parity.

The MCS guards the gates against those who oppose the profession and your right to practice.  Your membership, participation, and dues help in this fight by doing things for your profession that no other organization or entity can do, i.e., being the face of chiropractic to the legislature, the administration, insurance companies, and the media. The MCS continues to advocate for Recognition, Respect, Advocacy, and Parity. MCS is the only effective source of advocacy on Beacon Hill, in the local media, in the courtrooms, with insurers, and with our sponsors, vendors, and educators.  If those entities look successful, know that MCS had a hand in it somewhere along the line.

Again, too many young DCs do not recognize the value of membership. Be clearly aware that without membership dues, there is no money to lobby, reach out to insurance companies, place bills in both the House and Senate as well as keep members up to date with all things chiropractic in our state. . Here is a brief list of some of the things we have done, and continue to do for you:

  • Made sure chiropractors were considered essential workers during the pandemic. How long could any office survive if we had to close for a year? This alone is worth the dues.
  • Introduced a bill to allow preceptorship in MA. This means students could perform comprehensive supervised care including adjusting in our offices and would be more likely to come to MA as a destination. We have so few currently coming to MA.
  • Are actively working on getting a license in MA fast-tracked. It can take months right now which discourages new doctors from coming.

If MCS does not have enough members and can no longer function, just know there are many predators who want to dramatically limit our scope of practice.

  • They don’t think we should see kids under 12.
  • They want to take away our ability to sell nutritional supplements.
  • They think patients should only be seen by getting a prescription for chiropractic from their MD.

This is a very short list of the things we have been able to stop and perhaps you do not know about. In no uncertain terms, we need every chiropractor in MA to be a member of MCS right now, today. MCS is like our ‘trade union’, our only representation on the Hill. MCS is as essential to keeping your license as paying your electric and gas bills.

The MCS Board appreciates all those who continue to dig a little deeper for the well-being of our profession.  We absolutely need more who will commit and do likewise, reversing a trend seen by other non-profits. Many of you join all sorts of clubs, organizations, and businesses, yet forget the very foundation of our lives guarding our ability to practice.  You have it in your hands, Take Action! The MCS website and our new CE21 management product are merely a computer click away from making a profound difference by joining and appreciating all the benefits of being a member.  It is also a portal to increase CEU opportunities by using our brand new LMS (Learning Management System), accurately reviewing and correcting your data on file with MCS seen by the general public, a source of easy-to-access and read all sorts of news, updates, alerts, and entertainment you may need.  You are encouraged to fast-track this site in your personal ‘favorites’ column attached to your email address.

“Those who originally dug the well provide us the water we drink today.”  The legacy of the pioneers who laid the foundation for our profession calls upon us to act. The people of Massachusetts deserve a society that staunchly defends and safeguards the chiropractic profession—it's not just our duty, but our mission.

Lastly, MCS works hard for all chiropractors, regardless of practice style or personal philosophy.  We have more in common that truly unites us than any small issue that could divide us.  Your renewed commitment and support are necessary to keep it all going and flowing.  Let’s end this downward trend. Please act today. Thank you for being a part of our shared history. Board of Directors, The Massachusetts Chiropractic Society
